Heya everyone, I'm wondering if anyone has got this working on a Mac. I'm not talking a native version... I don't think that'd be in the cards given the way the game is built. Curious if anyone has tried it using something like Wine or Whisky.
Because you're not supposed to play that way. You have to use the launcher only or you'll have major issues.I'm like 90% of the way there with Whiskey. I'm using DBOKEY.exe and it's running, I was able to log in and build a character, but...the character is missing a head and on Roshi's Island, no tutorial is happening. No movement either. Small steps, but I think its close.
Thank you! I've done the launcher and it's updated. The intro video will play with glitchy audio (I can get past that), then as soon as it's at the main login screen, it will crash and close immediately. I can't login or get to the main screen after updating through DBO Launcher.Because you're not supposed to play that way. You have to use the launcher only or you'll have major issues.
I only know of WINE working for some players, I don't know much about mac myself. The game is strictly built for windows as well.Thank you! I've done the launcher and it's updated. Hello good news, the 0x000142 error fix has been find out. It's a error related to missing/nor accessible specific .ddls that the game requires. The saga continues! I tried getting it rolling on Parallels and couldn't get past the launcher. It would give me 0xc000142 error even after following all the steps in the in game support FAQ post once I tried to start up the game after it did it's updates.
Will keep on attacking this from different angles. I'm sure between valdan and myself, one of us will get it working!
Yes parallel is the way to go. He is exactly right. ^^^^^^^^Great, thanks! Still testing on Parallels, I put those files into UltimateDBO's main folder as well as turned off HD Graphics, and was able to boot it up! For some reason after entering my account name and password, it took a long while to connect (I wasn't counting, but I'd say about two minutes) before it went to the character select screen. Progress from it shutting itself down when using Whisky / Wine!
Actual game play wise while on Parallels, I can't seem to right click on anything. This may be just an issue with my settings, since there are so many moving parts when it comes to VMs. Beyond that input issue, everything seems to be running as it should.
Update:
To fix the mouse issues when playing on Parallels, make sure you switch your virtual mouse settings to "optimize for games." If you leave it on "auto-detect" or "don't optimize for games" the camera freaks out when you left click and right clicking is impossible. With this, Parallels seems to be a working solution until we can figure out Whisky.
